Outpatient Addiction Treatment Counselor

We are seeking candidates for an Outpatient Addiction Treatment Counselor for our Ames clinic. The person in this role will be responsible for facilitating group and individual sessions with clients participating in our Evening IOP program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the development, coordination, and evaluation of the treatment program.
  • Conducts individual, family, and group sessions consistent with treatment plans.
  • Provides clients and families with referral resources for the services not provided by this agency or when this agency’s services are not appropriate.
  • Maintains timely and accurate documentation reflective of client treatment plans and progress.

Schedule:

  • Type: Full-time
  • Hours: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 11:30a-8:00p; and Wednesday and Friday, 8a-4:30p (with some flexibility available)

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in the social or behavioral science, is required; OR
  • Associate degree, preferably in the social or behavioral sciences, AND two years of experience as a full-time substance use and/or problem gambling counselor may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Candidate must get tCADC or CADC certification within 12 months of beginning employment.
